A really fun song...

Hi friends!  I stumbled upon this video when I was looking for some "character education" songs for us to learn in the afternoons.  At first I thought they would laugh about it or think that Sesame Street was for babies...BUT when I played it, they LOVED it!!!!  We now have to listen to it at least 3-4 times before we go home during our character ed. time!   I thought you might like to "jam out" at home with your very special kindergartener!

Love,

Family Fun Night

I hope that you were able to attend our AEEC Family Fun Night!  It was wonderful!  Thank you so much to all the parents who helped make this night special! Kudos go to both of our room moms Leigh McGuire and Mary Ann Roberts for coordinating our class booth!  I think face painting was a hit!

Pumpkins continued...

We have spent the entire month of October doing pumpkin exploration and activities!  Here are some more pictures of our adventures!

For our fact books, we completed a pumpkin life cycle...

We are beginning construction on our pumpkin patch.
Step 1:  Stuff a paper bag.

Step 2:  Paint the "pumpkin" orange!

More pictures coming later this week (completing our pumpking patch, creating our scarecrow, making pumpkin bread, etc.)!!!
Have a wonderful week!

Trike Ride 2010

On Friday we had our annual Trike Ride!  It was absolutely fantastic!  I'm not sure if the kids were more excited to ride the tricycles or to see our school mascot-the tiger cub!  I will update you on how much our school and class raised as soon as we are given that information!  Thank you so much to all who helped make this Trike Ride so successful!
Here are some pictures of our time on the track!

We had the best time!
Have a great week!
Love,

Pete the Cat...

Last week we read the book Pete the Cat, I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin and James Dean.   I had no idea it would quickly become one of our all time favorite stories! :)  Here is the song--and I guarantee if you play it for your kindergartener they will be jumping for joy!

Happy Monday!

Pumpkins!

Last week we began our theme on pumpkins!  We have completed our K and W of our KWL chart!  We tried using the smart board (writing what we know) but it took us all of last week!  So for our W (what do you wonder) I decided I would type their questions! :)
Today we began our first set of experiments with our pumpkins-SINK and FLOAT!
We will fill out our fact page each day during our new experiment (sink/float, estimating seeds, and weight)
We are going to try three different sizes of pumpkins to see if they will sink/float.

Predicting

The small pumpkins floated!

The large pumpkin floated!

I will be posting more pumpkin activities and experiments later this week! :)
Have a wondeful Tuesday!
