Apples, Apples, Everywhere!

I will warn you, I've compiled a week's worth of apple pictures into one post!   So forgive me for it being so long! :)

Last week we learned all about apples!  Each day we read 1-2 books each morning and then did an activity to correlate during our center time.  Here are a few books we read...

We started our week off by tasting apples...

We learned all about the life cycle of the apple.

We completed a cut/paste life cycle for our fact book...

I found the cutest apple game from Mrs. Martin, the kids LOVE it!  It is also in their math journal!

Tasting...

Sammy even got to try! :)

We graphed our apples on trees in our science center (thanks Mrs. Jump for this GREAT idea)
We are still working on our data from the tree graph, maybe if you come to lunch one day you can see it!

And finally, as a culminating activity, we made apple pies!  The kids LOVED it and want to make them with you at home!  Here is the recipe...
One can of biscuits (large)
One can of apple pie filling
Cinnamon and sugar (for topping)

Roll out the biscuit to make a large circle.  Add desired amount of apple pie filling in the middle.  Fold over, wet the edges and use a fork to seal.  Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar topping.  Bake for 14-16 minutes at 350.
WARNING: The smell is fantastic and makes a great air freshener! :)

I didn't get a picture of the kids eating, we ate them at lunch!  But they begged for more! :)
Happy Wednesday!
